CAYMAN ISLANDS: Government agrees to further opening of beneficial ownership register

The Cayman Islands government has said it will open up further 'legitimate interest' access to the jurisdiction's beneficial ownership register, with more streamlined processes for multiple search requests, including on fees. The Cayman Islands Premier gave the undertaking to the UK government at a meeting earlier in June. At the meeting, the jurisdictions agreed to continue work to enhance greater cooperation through reciprocal information sharing by competent authorities, including law enforcement. The register, launched in February 2025, already allows some access to enquirers with a legitimate interest.
