BAHAMAS: Qualified executive entities to remain outside licensing system
The Bahamas senate is debating the Banks and Trust Companies Regulation (Amendment) Bill 2025, Executive Entities (Amendment) Bill, and Banks and Trust Companies (Private Trust Companies and Qualified Executive Entities) Regulations, intended to maintain compliance with OECD Global Forum standards for supervision of persons carrying on trust business. The Bills introduce a new entity type, the qualified executive entity. This, along with private trust companies, will be exempted from the licensing requirements under the Banks and Trust Companies Regulation Act 2020 but will have to have a representative licensed by or registered with the Central Bank.
