CAYMAN ISLANDS: Regulations published for withholding of beneficial ownership information
Regulations allowing beneficial owners of Cayman Islands financial accounts to protect their personal information from the public have been gazetted and are now in effect. The Beneficial Ownership Transparency (Access Restriction) Regulations 2024 allow information on the register of beneficial ownership to be withheld where the applicant 'reasonably believes that disclosure of the information relating to the applicant and the applicant's association with a legal person will place the applicant or an individual living in the same household at serious risk of kidnapping, extortion, violence, intimidation, or any similar danger or serious harm'. The application fee is KYD1,000.
