BERMUDA: Comprehensive reform coming for payment service providers regime
Bermuda has begun consulting on development of 'comprehensive modernisation' of its legislative framework for payment services providers, proposing a compulsory licensing regime incorporating 'principles of proportionality and a risk-based approach'. It is responding to 'rapid evolution in the payments landscape characterised by the convergence of technology and payments', including digital services like online payment processing, digital wallets and point-of-sale payment acceptance.
